At District Assembly today, PP Trevor Westland husband of DG Lynne Westland gave the District an update of his project Wheel Chairs for kids. Trevor announced that his project had raised $40,000 over the year which is a magnificent result.

There is more to this story though! Each wheel chair makes a life altering change to not only the recipient but also the family. Many of these children need to be carried by someone, so these wheel chairs make a great impact to the lives of many.

Trevor has asked that each Rotary Club in the District consider contributing to this program each year. $250.00 per wheel chair is not that much to change a life and the people around them.

About the photo: Rotary Club of Bunyip Garfield together with the Bunyip and Garfield Primary Schools were very proud to present the Wheelchairs for Kids organisation with a cheque for $800. A large proportion of this money was raised by the schools. Children were encouraged to ride, skate or scoot to school and make a gold coin donation to the group. The club decided to also contribute a portion enabling Wheelchairs for Kids to supply 4 wheelchairs for children in developing countries across the world.
Thank you to the schools for allowing Rotary to be part of the fundraiser and for bringing the school captains along to the Rotary Club of Casey meeting.  That is one fantastic effort right there but there are sure to be more examples of the community supporting the work of Rotary!
